Our History
Our restaurant has been home to many owners and concepts over the years. The building has housed a number of beloved establishments, including La Tartine, Poogan's Porch, Jams, Buddy's Seafood, Froggies, Crawdaddies, and Brecks — and now, us.
In 1980, the building underwent a significant renovation, during which the fireplace was added, along with new windows and the charming front porch that welcomes guests today.
The café area has had quite a life of its own — serving at various times as a jewelry store, clothing store, coffee shop, and music store, before eventually being incorporated into our restaurant.
The banquet room, now a favorite spot for private events, was once a T-shirt shop.
The building has weathered its share of history — including Hurricane Hugo, which tore the roof completely off. It was rebuilt and replaced with the durable metal roof you see today.
A hidden spiral staircase once connected the upper and lower floors, but was removed when the spaces were separated into distinct businesses.
One of our most unique pieces of history sits right in the entrance — a refrigerator that was once sat upon by the infamous Al Capone himself. A photo of that very moment hangs on the wall near the front door.
Finally, make your way up our 21 steps to the bar upstairs, where you'll find one of the most impressive selections around — over 650 brands of liquor.
